Javascript for navigational purposes

A javascript navigational system can be a great addition to your website. Like with every other detail of your website it will require careful planning. It needs to be easy to understand; it needs to be usable by all popular browsers; it needs to fit well with the design of your website; and it must be a concept search engines will relate with.

Sorry, but it is time for the sad news. Search engines will not relate with javascript navigational systems. What that means is that they will spider your website and not be able to go to the other pages. They simply do not yet read javascript. This is a bummer. But smile, because you can use the beautiful techniques of a javascript navigational system and get your whole website indexed. The solution is a sitemap created in straight html with normal hyperlinks and on each page of your website you include a typical html hyperlink to the sitemap page. Because the sitemap page will have a normal hypertext link to every page of your website with a hypertext link going back to the sitemap your whole website will be indexed.

A javascript navigational system is tough to code so it will work with all popular browsers. Below I have links to several scripts already created that should work anywhere from well enough to perfectly. Just remember what I suggested in the paragraph above regarding a sitemap.
